Dr. Martin Breton

Dr. Jonathan Cunningham

Dr. Jonathan Cunningham

Dr. Breton is a Medical Doctor. He has a strongly scientific background, which includes a Bachelor Science degree in Physics and Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Condensed Matter Physics, and four years of research in Medical Genetics from the University of Toronto, where he went on to complete his Medical degree. He has some training in interventional radiology, anesthesia, and surgical assisting. Over the years, he has become very interested in mental health and the impact of chronic pain on patients’ overall well-being. He worked at the Centre For Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto for almost 4 years, where he was in charge of both the Dual Diagnosis and Geriatric units. His expertise and knowledge base in this area of medicine led him to become interested in finding alternative methods for treating those patients whose physical and mental health are affected by chronic pain, many of whom have had little in the way of options but to resort to strong, often narcotic, pain medications which can cause a whole new set of complications. Towards this end, Dr. Breton completed the most intensive training available in North America in medical hypnosis to address the emotional aspect of chronic pain and pain tolerance. To directly address the physical aspect of pain, in 2015 he went on to do a formal training program in prolotherapy from the American Osteopathic Association of Prolotherapy Regenerative Medicine in Naples, Florida, and subsequently, he underwent one-on-one training from a master in the field who has been practicing prolotherapy for over 30 years. Dr. Breton is now both a practitioner of prolotherapy, and a trainer of those in a position to, and with an interest in, learning this approach to pain, in Calgary, AB.
